What trigger point release is

A trigger point is a tight, tender knot in a muscle. Some knots hurt right where they are. Others send pain somewhere else, like a knot near the shoulder blade that you feel further up the neck.

Trigger point release is firm, targeted pressure on those knots to ease pain and restore movement. We hold steady pressure on the knot until it starts to let go, then move on to the next one.

It's tender at first, then eases. We work within what you're comfortable with.

Trigger point release or acupressure?

They're close relatives, and most sessions use both. Trigger point release goes after one specific knot: we find the tender spot and hold firm pressure until it starts to let go.

Acupressure works on set points with steadier, gentler pressure, often across a wider area like the neck and shoulders. It's a good fit when tension is spread out, or when you'd like a gentler start.

More about acupressure, or see how both fit with cupping.

How it fits into your session

Every session runs Cup → Release → Move → Stretch. Trigger point release is the Release step: it follows cupping on the surrounding muscle, with Theragun on larger muscle groups where it helps.

Then we get the area moving again with guided movement and stretching, and you leave with a short routine to keep it that way. If the knots come from training, see sports recovery.

Pain after a fall, a pop, swelling, or numbness that spreads? Check with a doctor first. We'll happily work alongside their advice.

What is trigger point release?

Firm, targeted pressure on the tight knots in a muscle, held until they start to let go, to ease pain and help the area move again. It's close to acupressure, which works on set points with steadier, gentler pressure; most sessions use both.

Is trigger point release the same as acupressure?

They're close, and most sessions use both. Trigger point release goes after a specific tight, tender knot with firm pressure until it lets go. Acupressure works on set points with steadier, gentler pressure, often over a wider area.

Does trigger point release hurt?
