What we work on

  1. Base of the skull. Trigger point release on the knots here.
  2. Neck. Static cups, then gentle movement.
  3. Tops of the shoulders. Static cups and release where laptop hours build tension.
  4. Upper back. Movement, and stretches you can do at your desk.

Sound familiar?

  • Stiff neck after hours on a laptop or phone
  • Can't turn your head fully when reversing
  • Tight across the tops of your shoulders by evening

Many people call this “cervical”. If it's muscle tightness and stiffness, this is what we work on.

Why we start with cups

Cups lift the skin and the tight muscle underneath: the opposite of pressing down.

On the neck we use static cups on the tops of the shoulders and along the neck, where laptop and phone hours build tension.

Most people say their neck feels looser and turns more easily afterwards. That makes the release, movement and stretching that follow work better.

It isn't a quick fix, and results vary from person to person.

More about cupping

When tension reaches your head

Tension that builds in a tight neck and shoulders can creep into the back of your head by evening. Working on the neck and shoulders is what we do, and some people find it eases that tension too.

Sudden, severe or new headaches, or headaches with vision changes, weakness or confusion, need a doctor first.

See a doctor first if…

  • The pain started with a fall, an accident or a sudden pop.
  • You have numbness, tingling or weakness spreading into your arm or leg.
  • You notice changes in bladder or bowel control.
  • You feel unwell, with a fever, weight loss you can't explain, or pain that's worse at night and doesn't ease.
  • A doctor has told you to avoid hands-on work or exercise.

All questions
Does cupping help a stiff neck?

Many people with a stiff neck from laptop and phone hours say it feels looser and turns more easily after a session. Research on cupping is still limited, so every session also includes release, movement and stretching. Results vary from person to person.

Will I have marks on my neck?

Usually, yes. Cupping leaves round marks, from pink to dark red or purple, that fade in about 3–7 days. Marks on the neck can show above a collar, so tell us if that matters and we'll keep the cups to the tops of your shoulders. If you have an event or a wedding coming up, tell us when you book and we'll plan around it.

How soon will I feel a difference?

Some people feel looser straight after the first session. Pain that has built up over months usually takes more than one. We'll give you an honest view after your first visit. Results vary from person to person.

Can I go to work straight after?

Yes. Most people go straight back to work. The area may feel a little tender for a day: keep moving your neck gently and drink some water.
