What acupressure is

Acupressure is steady pressure from the fingers and thumbs on set points of the body. It comes from the same tradition that gives Twelve Meridian its name, the twelve meridians, the channels of an old Chinese tradition.

We keep it practical: we use it to ease tension in tight, overworked muscles, especially across the neck, shoulders and back.

It feels deep and steady rather than sharp. Each point is held for a few breaths, then released. Most people find it relaxing.

Acupressure or trigger point release?

They're close relatives, and most sessions use both. Acupressure works on set points with steadier, gentler pressure, often across a wider area. It's a good fit when tension is spread out, or when you'd like a gentler start.

Trigger point release goes after one specific knot: we find the tender spot and hold firm pressure until it starts to let go.

How it fits into your session

Every session runs Cup → Release → Move → Stretch. Acupressure is part of the Release step, alongside trigger point release, after cupping has loosened the surrounding muscle.

Then we get the area moving again with guided movement and stretching, and you leave with a short routine to keep it that way.

Pain after a fall, a pop, swelling, or numbness that spreads? Check with a doctor first. We'll happily work alongside their advice.

Acupressure questions

All frequently asked questions
What is acupressure?

Steady pressure from the fingers and thumbs on set points of the body, held for a few breaths and then released. We use it to ease tension in tight, overworked muscles.

Is acupressure the same as trigger point release?

They're close, and most sessions use both. Acupressure works on set points with steadier, gentler pressure, often over a wider area. Trigger point release goes after one specific tight, tender knot with firm pressure until it lets go.

Are there any needles?

No. Acupressure uses only fingers and thumbs. Nothing breaks the skin.

Does acupressure hurt?

It shouldn't. It's deep and steady, and some points feel tender. We adjust the pressure to what you're comfortable with, and you can ask us to ease off at any time.

Can my session be mostly acupressure?

Every session is built around where it hurts, and acupressure is part of most of them. If you'd like more of it, or a gentler session than cupping, tell us when you book.
